Peace in the Storm

The last few weeks have flown by in a whirlwind of birthday parties, visiting parents, frogs in the bathroom, torrential downpours, eating mangos, and the normal highs and lows of life at Family Feliz. I've been here for 3 months, and Wednesday (Nov. 27) will be my 100th day in Bolivia!! Wow! God is faithful! This is a shorter post with just a couple journal entries and a thought at the end. Here's a quick timeline update, though. There are just two more weeks left in this trimester of school for the kids. After that, many of them that have families will go home for the vacation. Sadly, many of them do not go home to places where they are safe and sufficiently provided for--the reason they are at Familia Feliz in the first place. We are praying for God's hand of protection over them, as that is all that we can do at this point. They will return in mid-February. Happy (almost) November!!! How is it the last day of October? Life is beautifully chaotic here, and time flies by! Since my last blog, I have been doing so much better with my energy! By God's grace, I have fully stepped back into full-time houseparenting.  Laney has also since moved into the Flores house to provide some extra assistance. The biggest blessing about that change has been her ability to communicate with the girls so well. She came to Bolivia already fluent in Spanish. This has allowed us to uphold clearer boundaries and understand the disagreements that the girls are having in order to solve them more effectively. I praise God for the improvements we have already seen in the house since Laney moved in. Another positive aspect of this change will be evident in the next semester. Lauren will be going back to Southern for the winter semester to finish her degree and graduate in May. (I'm so proud of her and love her so much, but I'm going to miss her terribly!!) ...
